Chief Operations Officer at IESE endowment

The IESE Endowment is a €50M investment fund that seeks to support research activities and scholarship programs as well as the overall institutional development of IESE. It is managed so that future generations will have at least the same capacity for action as the present generation (intergenerational equity). It is expected to double in value over the next few years thanks to new donations.

By joining the IESE Endowment team, you will have exposure not only to the Investment Committee (IC) and internal shareholders, but also to international asset managers. You will be working in one of the most impactful departments in IESE, favoring academic and social development. In this role you will use your experience and specialized skills to generate opportunities for IESE and for your own career.

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Chief Operations Officer assists in all functions related to investment management and implementation of IC decisions, performing with initiative all those tasks required; in particular, these include:

  • Assist the CIO in the preparation of investment proposals and other documents to the IC.
  • Attend the IC meetings and taking minutes.
  • Implementation of the Committee's decisions in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Cash management as directed by the Committee.
  • Relations with the custodian banc, broker, and other providers.
  • Relations with external managers:
    • Due diligence of new products and companies;
    • Negotiation of management fees and other conditions;
    • Monitoring of the relationship with managers through regular meetings;
    • Performance assessment and reports.
  • Analytical information:
    • Monthly allocation & performance scorecards;
    • Quarterly risk reports and other technical reports as needed;
    • Annual endowment management report.
  • Responsible investment:
    • ESG-Due Due Diligence with external managers;
    • Annual impact analysis: ESG rating, carbon footprint, etc.
    • “Proxy voting” management
  • Supervision of accounting, periodic closings, and other legal and administrative aspects.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • 2 to 3 years' experience in similar positions or in investment banking, private banking, wealth management, family offices, investment funds, etc.
  • Ability to solve problems and distil complex information.
  • Strong quantitative, technical, financial modelling and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally, with the committee and with external partners.
  • Fluent English

 

Nice to have:

  • Spanish
  • MBA and/or CFA
  • Experience in management of similar funds, limited partnerships, or foundations.
